English School’s Policies & Guidelines

Booking Process

Please take some time to read the procedures below and stick to these policies when booking with us.

In order to confirm your booking we need the following information:

  • Dates of travelling and course
  • Type of accommodation (with basis)
  • Type of course (and any additional requirements)
  • Upon receiving this information we will check for availability. You will then receive a reply together with a quotation
  • Once flight details have been sent and the booking is confirmed, a 25% deposit is required to be settled at least 4 weeks before arrival. The rest of the balance can be settled at the school. If the deposit is not received, the booking is automatically considered as cancelled.

Booking guidelines apply unless a specific agreement is made between the school and a client. Bookings with special conditions are always taken into consideration

Booking your English language course:

You can send your application by clicking on the "Book Now" button, enter your details and click submit and we will then process it (No cancellation fees apply at this stage).

A deposit is required after receiving your flight details (Non Refundable)

Accommodation:

Kindly note that all accommodation is subject to availability

Security & Privacy Policy:

Any of the information we collect from you is required to reply to your questions and/or comments and to book your course, accommodation and/or transfers. Your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the purchased service requested

Cancellation Policy:

The following charges apply:

  • Cancellation 15 days before date of arrival - None
  • Cancellation 7 - 14 days before date of arrival - 30% cancellation fee of the services booked
  • Cancellation 4 - 6 days before date of arrival - 50% cancellation fee of the services booked
  • Cancellation 1 - 3 days before date of arrival - 70% cancellation fee of the services booked
  • No Shows – 100% cancellation fee of the services booked

Placement Test:

On the first day students sit for a placement test which determines their level of English.

The online test available on our website is for indicative purposes only. New students are expected to be at school at 08:00 (Summer time) and 08:30 (Winter time) on their first day.

Lesson Timetables:

All courses run from Monday to Friday

Time Table:

  • 20 session courses – 09:00 to 12:30
  • 30 session courses - 09:00 to 14:30
  • Private tuition – to be advised
  • TEFL Induction Courses – to be advised
  • Coffee break 10:30 – 11:00
  • Lunch break 12:30 – 13:00

Accommodation:

We offer various kinds of accommodation:

  • Host Family Accommodation
  • Hotel Accommodation
  • Self Catering Apartments
  • School Residence

All types of accommodation, except the school residence and self-catering apartments, can be selected with the choice of breakfast (BB), half board (HB) or full board (FB). Half board is Continental Breakfast and a Set Menu Dinner while Full Board also includes a Packed Lunch.

Complaints Procedure:

If a student is unhappy, s/he is to forward the complaint at the Reception or Director's office.

Mid & end of stay evaluation forms are given to collect feedback from students. The school reserves the right to ignore any complaint received after the student's departure.

Attendance:

Students with less than 50% attendance are not awarded a certificate.

Expulsion:

It is expected that all students behave in an educated and disciplined manner towards all members of staff including Host Family and other students at all times and to respect curfew time. We reserve the right to ask any student who does not abide by any of the above to leave. No refund is given and any incurred expenses will be charged to the student.

Lost Property/Insurance:

The school holds no responsibility for any of the student's property. In the eventuality of any lost or stolen items, we offer our full support. We recommend students to obtain travel insurance when booking their trip.

Reduced Hours:

If only one participant, sessions will be reduced to:
10 for General, Mini Group, Special & Business – 20 for Intensive

Public Holidays:

The school is closed & no courses are run on the following dates. Private tuition will be made up for:

Transfers:

It is important that students send us the exact flight details of the arrival and departure for transfers to be organised efficiently. We are not responsible for any problems derived from incorrect details provided by the student. In this eventuality the school offers assistance at a charge.

Host Family Accommodation

Our ultimate goal is to offer students an international experience when learning English in Malta. Staying with a Maltese Host Family together with other students from different parts of the world is an integral part of a language course. Living with other people necessitates a level of acceptable behaviour towards the family and other students.

Host Family Accommodation is within a walking distance of about 20 to 25 minutes from the school. We always try our best to provide accommodation close to the school. A profile of the Host Family will be sent upon confirmation of booking.

Students can book single, twin or triple rooms.

Students booking a shared room will be placed with a student of the same sex regardless of nationality. Students can, ON REQUEST only, select the preferred nationality to share with.

When booking a shared room, only students who are 18 years of age and older are allowed to share a room with a student of the opposite sex.

Students staying with a host family can also choose their meal basis.

Breakfast Basis includes continental breakfast.

Half Board Basis includes breakfast and evening meal.

Full Board Basis includes breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal.

Beverages will only be provided during meal times. Note Breakfast is Continental and Dinner consists of a warm main course, dessert, and a drink.

Students over 18 years of age are given a house key. It is the student’s responsibility to return the key at the end of the stay and if lost, he/she must incur the expense.

Students are expected to abide by the Host Family’s rules at all times.

Students who cause any damages to furniture or other items in the home are held responsible.

Students are to take care of their possessions while staying with a host Family and keep valuables locked up in their suitcase. Any missing items are to be reported immediately.

It is strictly forbidden to invite other people over to the Host Family without informing them.
